warning! global warming

This is how Briksdalsbreen looked like in August 2005; I put this up so you can compare it to one below and see the effect of glaciers melting fast. As you can see the ‘mouth’ of the glacier was still very wide and all the way into the lake and the upper arm was still wide too; this has narrowed and if the melting continues might cause the glacier to break in two; like it has happened with the Suphellebreen in Fjaerland.

This is a photo of Briksdalsbreen in November 2006. It has lost a 50m section suddenly and is now mainly on the bedrock rather than the lake. This catastrophic loss of about 100m of glacier backs up the measurements showing that global warming is faster than expected.
